WebGear Aviator Wireless 90DMHz

Written by

Aviator is a low-cost, wireless technology that doesn’t even require you to open up your computer and install an expansion card. Operating on the 900MHz band, the Aviator has a shorter range than new 2.4GHz systems, and since many cordless telephones also ride the 900MHz merry-go-round, you might experience interference.
An Aviator kit comes with two nondescript black boxes that plug into your PCs through their parallel ports. Speeds are rated at 1Mbps, but overhead drops access down to about 500Kbps. While you don’t need to crack open your case to install Aviator, you will need to install the included parallel port card if you plan on connecting a printer to the same computer—there’s no printer pass-through on Aviator boxes.
