The motherboard is built on the i955X chipset in combination with the ICH7R Southbridge and is generally similar in functionality to its “younger brother” (Super micro PDSLA), the main differences lie in the slots for expansion cards. Supennicro PDSGE has one less PCI Express xl. but there are 5 PCI slots, 2 of which are 64-bit PCI-X connectors operating at 100 MHz. and are not of particular value to the mass user.
The results of performance tests for this product show a picture similar to that observed in the previous case: a lag in 3D graphics and good performance in the memory controller. However, this board gave way to the leader quite a bit, about 3%. Nevertheless, it is still difficult to recommend the Supermicro PDSGE for a home machine – low functionality and high price place it in the segment of components for entry-level workstations and servers.
